Entrepreneurship has become a hot topic in the world in recent years. Entrepreneurship can drive economic development and solve social phenomena such as unemployment. Entrepreneurship has also become one of the ways for young people to achieve higher career plan.
In the past experience of investing in entrepreneurial counseling, the previous research found that not every entrepreneur will be successful, but there is a characteristic of entrepreneurs who can obtain better entrepreneurial results after starting a business. Therefore, this study attempts to understand the personality traits of entrepreneurs through the five personality traits and entrepreneurial orientation, explore their impact on performance, and find out which types of traits entrepreneurs are likely to create better startup performance. In addition, the initial stage of a startup is often in a state of lack of resources. Therefore, this study also hopes to understand how entrepreneurs with different entrepreneurial characteristics can influence their startup performance through bricolage.
The sample of this study is based on the Taichung City Entrepreneurship Plan and the Incubator Program. This object has unique sample representativeness. Finally, 221 valid questionnaires were collected for statistical analysis. The results show that: (1) Entrepreneurs with the personality traits of extroversion, openness, and conscientiousness have better entrepreneurial performance. (2) Entrepreneurs have innovative and proacvtiveness entrepreneurial-oriented and their performance is better. (3) Entrepreneurs can produce better entrepreneurial performance through bricolage. (4) Entrepreneurs have the personality traits of openness, autonomy, and affinity, like to bricolage for startup performance. (5) Entrepreneurs with entrepreneurial orientation are more able to create good performance through bricolage.
