Thisthesis explores Wang Shizhen, who lived during the transitional period betweenthe Ming and Qing dynasties. Did he have a special emotional connection to theMing Dynasty during his life? Did Wang Shizhen's political identity influencehis social circles, relationships with mentors and peers, and even his poetictheories? "Political identity," involving the psychological state ofan individual case, is inherently difficult to grasp. This paper utilizesconcepts and research methods from sociology, psychology, and history. Itinitially categorizes Wang Shizhen's life into different groups based on hisexperiences. Then, by examining Wang Shizhen's personal life events in relationto the external environment, society, and politically significant events ofthat time, it reconstructs interactions between Wang Shizhen and various groupssuch as family, literary friends, colleagues, etc. Through this, it clarifiesthe emotional relationships Wang Shizhen had within his family, relatives,local community, workplace, official duties, and determines his politicalidentity, self-identity, and his relationships with significant others. Thepaper argues that his grandfather, Wang Xiangjin, his mother, Sun, and hiselder brother, Wang Shilu, were significant figures in Wang Shizhen's family,exerting a profound influence on his early political identity, conduct, career,and poetic pursuits. In the 13th and 14th years of the Shunzhi era, as WangShizhen was about to take the imperial examination, he suddenly experienced aninexplicable melancholy, seemingly facing an identity crisis. Thispsychological struggle persisted until he adopted the sobriquet "Fishermanof Yangshan," which helped alleviate it. Furthermore, in his early poeticcareer, like his elder brother Wang Shilu, Wang Shizhen followed the classicalstyle and was deeply influenced by loyal officials of the Ming Dynasty andanti-Qing martyr Chen Zilong. After moving to Yangzhou, Wang Shizhen formedclose bonds with the literati of Jiangnan. Under the influence of Ming loyalistculture, Wang Shizhen developed a new appreciation for poetic aesthetics andshifted his poetic perspectives from the Tang dynasty to the Song and Yuandynasties.
