This dissertation highlights the antecedents, mediators and consequences of green service innovation in the Business-to-Business (B2B) context. We consider the collaboration among firms in the industry as networking, and suggest that the collaboration enhance mutual opportunities of green service innovation development. However, within a business ecosystem, green service innovation performance might vary among firms according to diverse capabilities to leverage the resources. We employ the quantitative approach to conduct the research. The data is collected via questionnaire survey sent to the entrepreneurs or managers of firms in logistics (n=163) and hospitality industry (n=160). The data analyzed using Partial-Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS 4.0 and descriptive statistical analysis via SPSS 26.0.
The main construct is called green resource capabilities which include four dimensions: green value contribution, scarcity, complementary, and green resource access. We confirm the positive antecedent role of green resource capabilities on green service innovation both directly and indirectly via the mediating roles of knowledge integration capabilities. Regarding other two types of green service capabilities, knowledge integration capabilities significantly influence green service innovation and sustainable competitive advantage in the positive direction. Meanwhile, digital transformation is directly associated with sustainable competitive advantage but is not significantly related to green service innovation. Moreover, we prove that green service innovation positively influences sustainable competitive advantage of the firms in business ecosystem environment.
We also conduct the moderating test and reveal that network tie strength positively moderates the relationship between green resource capabilities and green service innovation. Simultaneously, organization innovation culture positively moderates the relationship between knowledge integration capabilities and green service innovation. Besides, multigroup analysis shows that the results are different across groups of logistics and hospitality industry.
