音樂資料過去是以書目資料的形式提供查詢、取得與利用,然而此種檢
索的彈性相當有限。音樂內容查詢即在允許由記憶不全或表達不清的音樂片段進
行資料查詢。然而音樂內容查詢會面臨查詢不匹配、查詢表達困難以及結果瀏覽
檢視與篩選等問題。本研究將就這些問題,進行音樂資料特性分析,從而提出適
當的查詢模式與使用介面、開發音樂內容特徵的分析與擷取技術、發展快速有效
的索引與檢索模式,以解決音樂查詢不匹配問題,進而建立同時允許書目性資料
查詢以及內容查詢的音樂檢索系統,並評估其成效。目前本研究已發展出一套架
構在WWW上的系統,提供友善的檢索方法及便利的結果檢視與瀏覽。經由特殊
的編碼方法與索引技術,系統容許任意音高的查詢及查詢條件中多音、少音、音
高不準的隨機錯誤。而系統回應的畫面中,有查詢條件的試聽按鈕、自動提示的
候選查詢條件、以及依近似程度排序的檢索結果。此系統的特點,是其關鍵旋律
擷取的設計,除便利並加速瀏覽篩選的查詢過程外,也作為查詢提示、相關回饋
的功能,進而有效提昇檢索的成效。
The problem of music retrievalbased on surrogates of music, such as titles
or composers has been solved by existing bibliographic retrieval systems. In contrast,
retrievalof a piece of music based on the music contents,especially based on an
incomplete, imperfectrecall, has not yet fully explored. There areseveral problems
specific to content-based music retrieval, such as various types of querymismatch,
difficulty in query formulation, result inspection, and browsing. This research isaimed
at proposing solutions to these problemsand developing a pragmatic system for
bothbibliographic and content-based retrieval.Currently a retrieval system has been
developed on the Web and provides flexible user interface for query formulation and
resultbrowsing. With the proposed pitch encodingand n-note indexing methods,
allowance forquery in any key and approximate matching insub-linear time is
achieved. The most distinctfeature of this system is the key melody extraction
function for query suggestion and effectiveretrieval. Evaluation of the retrieval
effectiveness of the proposed methods is also provided.
