探索教育具有超越的活動本質。由體能訓練至意志和精神的鍛鍊,由個人的成長至生態的保育,由學校進入社區到原野,應用過去經驗於現況並轉移至未來,從活動領導至心理輔導;探索教育是在時間、空間和深度上,如蜘蛛網狀的架構,水紋般的擴張,聲波的遠傳。探索教育的動能建立在團體工作的動力、創造力的激勵和人格的完整發展。團體是一個美妙韻律的頻道,活動是能力的試金石、經驗的晶體、意志的電瓶。人格是在活動中心中的小憩,激情後的沈思,金蛹期的內省,而變形與成長。超越的心理觀點注重:探索個人未知的潛能、探測不能預料的結果、體驗入勝的神情意境。 本文從探索活動的興起,戶外學校與探索課程的發展,來說明探索教育的超越本質。回顧團體工作、創造力,和人格理論的發展過程,來分析超越的動力基礎。引用自由意志的探索經驗、整合身、心、精神的全人教育,和健康的生活教育,來充實超越的心理涵義。歸納動能問題、分析其心理原因,和整合心療方法,來發展探索心療的動能效益。
