　　　　　近年來許多學者以Beta-Hydroxy-Beta-Methylbutyrate(HMB)作為營養增補 劑的研究，以期提高運動表現。研究結果顯示每日補充3g的HMB，對身體並不會 有不良的副作用。本文介紹HMB的來源與代謝，以及補充HMB的安全性與體內 HMB的生理功能和對運動表現的影響。
　　　　　Beta-hydroxy beta-rnethylbutyrate ( HMB ) is a metabolite of the essential amino acidleucine. Several studies done with both animals and humans have found that subjectssupplemented with HMB have a decreased stress-induced muscle protein breakdown. Studieswith humans have found that HMB may enhance increases in both muscle size and strength,lowers total and LDL cholesterol level in blood , helps strengthen the immune system andburns body fat.
