Library and Information Science (LIS) education in Mainland China has been undergoing a period of fundamental change and reorganization. This article exam-ines these recent developments there by looking at mainland and Chinese literature over the past years. Following an outline of the historical context, the article the changes during the past years. This paper attempts to introduce library and information science education there from five facets: the historical development, program structure, curriculum, admission requirement as well as completion requirement and characteristics.
