新聞何以成為客觀的？本文主張客體性是一種論說建構，而非相對於記者主觀性思考的本體論類目。媒體運用若干文本策略來隱藏作者的聲音，引導閱聽人將其回應集中在新聞來源的發言上。因此，針對新聞客觀性的批評首先要重現閱聽人與媒體間的論說遭遇，強調閱聽人對媒體的回應優先於對被報導者的回應。此外，藉著排除前者，客觀新聞學自然化了中產階級語言及其在社會運動的大量報導裡的運用，結果生產的是依舊威權的獨白論說，它與臺灣社會自民主革以來自誇的多元喧嘩，是背道而馳的。

This article explains that news objectivity is a discursive construct, other than am ontological category opposed to reporters’ subjective thinking. News media employ audiences to focus their responses on the utterances of communicators as news sources. A critique of news objectivity therefore communicators as news sources. A critique of news objectivity therefore begins with re-presenting the discursive encounter between media and an audience and prioritizing the audience’s possible responses to media’s authorial voices. By repressing such responses objective news reporting naturalizes the language of the middle class and its use in stories about social movements. The result is an authoritative monologic discourse that runs counter to what democratic reforms have boasted of as the pluralism of democratization.
