This paper reports the results of an experiment, which examines the relationship between mora duration and mora-count of words in the spoken data by Japanese-speaking Chinese born in Taiwan and Japanese native speakers of the Tokyo dialect. In the experiment, duration of moras in using nonsense words, consisting of CV (i.e. a single consonant plus a vowel) mora, was examined. The results showed among other things that the mora duration by the Japanese-speaking Chinese born in Taiwan is both like and unlike that by Japanese native speakers of the Tokyo dialect.
