The purpose of this study was to understand the different hits and effectiveness of using libero in the 2001 Asia Men's Volleyball Championship. Data was collected from subjects who participated in the six games and the research instrument used was a recording table that measured the different hits and effectiveness using libero, which we constructed. Descriptive statistics and one-way ANOVA were used to analyze the data. The results were: (l)In the different hits, the percentage of the hits by libero for the Koreans and the Chinese Taipei were higher than 50.3% and for the Chinese and Japanese they were higher than 36.7%. (2) The percentages of hitting by libero in all teams were higher than 81.3%. The successful percentages of hitting by general players from Korea, China, and Japan were higher than 77.5% where Chinese Taipei was only 60.8%. (3) Missed hits percentage of the hits recorded by libero in all teams were lower than 4.0%. In the missed hits the percentage of hits recorded by libero for general players were lower than 3.0% and for Chinese Taipei it was 12.3% making them the highest missing percentage. (4) In the effectiveness of hitting China was significantly better than Chinese Taipei, the scores of hitting recorded by libero in all teams showed no significant difference. The hits by general players from China, Korea and Japan were significantly better than those of Chinese Taipei.
