There have been many sayings about dragon custom in China. In the type of sports, the most popular one is dragon dance. On Chinese festivals and in temple assembly, dragon dance celebration and welcome of good luck have been essential programs. In particular, in Hakka area at Miaoli, people further respect "dragon" as a god. On Chinese Lantern Festival, people of many households hope to have a courtesy visit from a "holy dragon", a symbol of holy fortune in their residences, in order to discourage the evil, threaten devils, eliminate disease, and protect people in peace. Therefore, in the celebration activities of Chinese Lantern Festival, a kind of special "dragon explosion" activity has been formed. Being a member of the Hakka people at Miaoli, the author shall be responsible in describing this significant Hakka activity in writing, to facilitate its extension. Besides, in journals, no researchers have engaged in related studies concerning this subject yet. In order to faithfully demonstrate the popular situation of dragon explosion activity of Miaoli, field investigation was employed in the research, by interviewing the entity in charge of this activity, and soliciting many journals for verification. After research, the following conclusions are attained: "Dragon Explosion" is a kind of dragon dance. Some game features are left in this activity. It is a kind of sports type game, similar to the dragon fire of Srchuan province and dragon combustion of east Canton province. In the removing process of the Cantonese, they brought this tradition to Taiwan. Its characteristic is to play fireworks and thrown such to the dragon body during dragon dance and lantern display. It means to "burn away the bad luck and welcome good luck" through dragon dance ceremony, then plus swarming firecracker, fireworks, some colors are added to the night sky of Chinese Lantern Festival at Miaoli. It helps the silent hearts of the Hakka people to be unified.
