The Democratic Action Alliance, an electoral union composed of Legal and Political Science scholars and less influential groups, participated in the 2005 Ad Hoc National Assembly Election in accordance with the assembly's electoral laws. However, the Central Election Commission, responsible for election administrative affairs, has adopted an extremely improper explanation of the laws and regulations on the election, thus infringing the fundamental right of the Democratic Action Alliance which should be guaranteed by constitution and law. This text records and narrates these disputes, and discusses the legal principles in the hopes of contributing to the democratic development of Taiwan's constitutional government.
