TEBNET (Taiwan E-Book Network) is the first attempt to build and share collections of e-books in English language among the academic libraries in Taiwan. The First Shared Collection of netLibrary e-books , set up by members of the TEB-N E T, has been used for over two years. The article reviewed recent literature on the development and usage of e-book collections, and analyzed usage statistics of the First Shared Collection from May 2002 to Sept. 2004, by the general usage, the usage of indi-vidual member libraries, and the usage by subjects. The following topics were also dis-cussed: the shared acquisition and usage of e-books of the netLibrary model, e-book sta-tistics, a critical mass of e-content, subject emphasis by the netLibrary, and advantages of e-books and their applications to libraries.
