《中國古籍善本書目》一書之編輯，從籌備到全書全部出版完成，歷時二十年，共收錄中國大陸古籍善本約六萬種，收藏單位近八百家，為中國大陸近數十年來所編輯規模最大的現藏古籍善本聯合目錄，其價值及影響廣為學術界所稱道。本文擬就此書編輯緣起、編輯過程與參與人員、編輯體例，以及此書的功能價值，此書的優、缺點等方面加以探討，以期能夠對此書有比較深入的瞭解。

The Catalogue of Rare Chinese Books lists approximately 60,000 rare editions of Chinese books to be found in roughly 800 collections in Mainland China. As the largest work of its kind to be published in Mainland China for a number of decades, this cata-logue is of great value and benefit to scholars and researchers. This review will aim to provide readers with an in-depth understanding of this work by giving an overview of the following: 1. why this work being undertaken; 2. how this work being put together; 3. scholars taking part in the compilation of this work; 4. the format of this work; 5. uses of this work; 6. strengths and weaknesses of this work.
