In this study, Door Gods will be interpreted by the concept of visual communication, and its structure will be analyzed in a systemed way as follows. The study shows that Door Gods in an important element of temple's decoration. Its image contains various visual communicational characters of Taiwanese folk belief. The Door gods painting is not only for decorating, but for communicating. It reflects the commons' wish and social ethic. Through analyzing the images, we can find the cultural and communicational characters of our people. In the method of Semiology, this study tries to interpret the images of Door Gods. The Purposes are: (1) Decoding the structures of Door Gods' images and the transformation of its sign in a visual semiotic way. (2) Analyzing the social value and inside cultural meaning of Door Gods by visual semiology. (3) completing the context of Taiwanese traditional images and furthermore, making advance in the style of visual communication design.
