生物氣膠(Bioaerosols)通常定義為由微生物、植物和動物所產生的氣溶膠或粒子。生物氣膠可由致病性或非致病性的、活的或死的細菌、真菌、病毒、高分子量抗原、細菌內毒素、黴菌毒素、胜聚糖、葡聚糖、花粉與植物纖維等所組成。自然界中存在著不同的生物氣膠,人體更可能於生活、工作環境中吸入生物氣膠而致病。環境中生物氣膠的暴露與人體健康之影響間有很大的關聯,於公共衛生方面的衝擊主要有傳染病、急性中毒影響、過敏症與癌症等疾病。其中,生物氣膠對於人體呼吸道和肺功能健康的損害,更可能是損害人體健康最重要的影響因素之一。由於台灣地區多處於溫暖潮濕的環境,非常有利於微生物與生物氣膠的滋長,許多呼吸道過敏等相關症狀更是超乎寒帶國家相對的盛行率。因此,生物氣膠的特性和其對人體健康的評估是十分重要的議題。本文即為著重在生物氣膠暴露對人體健康影響之綜合性回顧與分析。
Bioaerosols are usually defined as aerosols or particulates matter of microbial, plant or animal origin. Bioaerosols may consist of pathogenic or non-pathogenic live or dead bacteria and fungi, viruses, high molecular weight allergens, bacterial endotoxins, mycotoxin, peptidoglycans, glucans, pollen, plant fibers, etc. Diverse bioaerosols are to exist in the world, so the human could develop various diseases by inhaling bioaerosols originally from their daily life or work environments. Exposures to bioaerosols in the environment are associated with a wide range of health effects with major public health impacts on infectious diseases, acute toxic effects, allergies and cancer. Respiratory symptoms and lung function impairment probably are the most important bioaerosol-associated health effects. This article is aimed to review the health effects about the results of exposure to bioaerosols. Taiwan is located in the subtropical zone characterized with high temperature and relative humidity, and the bioaerosols are prevailing here in Taiwan. Therefore, it is a very important issue to characterize and evaluate the human health effects caused by bioaerosols.
