This paper traces the research works of Professor Kusumoto Masatsugu (1896-1963), Emeritus Professor of Kyushu University, who is well known for his work entitled They Study of Confucianism in the Song-Ming Period. By way of this investigation, we focus on the methodology of his research in Confucianism of the Song-Ming period, so as to unfold the significance of his works.
