Japan's literacy circle's two influentical writers, Yasunari, Kawabata (1899-1972) and Junichiro, Tanizaki (1886-1965), both came out with contrary works during their old age. "House of the SleepingBeauties" (Published in "shinchosya", 1960) and "The Key" (Published in "Central public opinion", 1956) got significant attention with the world. These two novels have been announced as the herald of senior literature because its stories' topics are around life, death and desires. Also, these two came out at around the same time so they are wroth exploring. This thesis will be divided into two categories. First, it's going to investigate how these two novels use the closed-space point of view to build its desires. Then it's going to focus on the female bodies that men worship, try to analyze the female bodies' meanings in the novels. At last, it will try to explain the relationships between men and women with power and control in the novels. This will get in touch with the masters' great literatures and go in details with their ideas between life and death.
