This paper attempts at an inquiry of Tsuda Sōkichi's scholarship on Chinese studies. The author discusses the academic background of Tsuda Sōkichi in connection with his critiques of the old Sinological scholarship and Confucianism. Moreover, the author analyzes the special traits of Tsuda Sōkichi's historiography and his scholarship on China which focusing upon Tsuda Sōkichi's studies of the Confucian Analects and the Daoism.
