本文試圖以拉岡的精神分析理論探討亞美文學中處理族群和解主題的模式。以小川樂的《歐巴桑》為主要討論文本。一般多認為主角直美在小說的末了，在心中達到和解的心理狀態。然而，若從精神分析的角度，卻可發現，直美仍掙扎於東西方兩種文化當中，和解之路仍遙遠。而Zizek所提示的操弄創傷理論，似乎提供了另一塊想像空間。

This paper attempts to apply Lacanian psychoanalysis to explore the pattern with which Asian American literature claims its reconcilitation. Take Joy Kogawa's Obasan as the major concern, the general criticism of it usually concludes that Naomi, the protagonist, reaches the synthesis of the dialectic between the East and the West, between silence and speech. However, in accordance with the Lacanian psychoanalysis, the symthesis is still far beyond reach. Though reconciliation is hard to reach, Zizek's proposal of manipulating traumatic experiences proffers a forum for imagination.
