People usually communicate with those in other cities by taking the trains which have convenience, economic and easily controlled timeliness. The commuters have a lot of activities in waiting for the trains when they are in the railway stations. Whereas, the traditional waiting rooms don’t seem enough to satisfy the diversified living types of modern people. Therefore, we take Kaohsiung station as an example in this research, in which we attempt to use this case to do POE. The purpose of this research is to provide reference for design research is to provide reference for design of Kaohsiung station and other railway stations in the aspects of decoration and design for waiting space. It is found in the research that chatting, being in a daze, looking around are the people’s usual behaviors. But some of these behaviors are not affected by the difference of ht4e types of chairs, such as, making phone calls and arranging personal suitcase in order, etc. Most people take the elements, such as, vision, distance, and convenience, number of seats and privacy into account when choosing the waiting space. A few people do not take the above elements. In this research we propose that in future the design of the waiting space in accordance with the diversified activity types of dividing area such as dynamic district, static district, TV-watch district, reading district, open area and private area, etc, in order to satisfy more users’ requirements.
