The research illustrates influences from Japanese Language Proficiency Test to every walk of life in Taiwan. It goes further to explode and analyze impacts from Japanese Language Proficiency Test to curriculum and teaching design in Applied Japanese departments from the applied Japanese major viewpoint, then makes suggestions to its interaction. Followings are the analysis results. (1) Over 70% Applied Japanese departments have courses relate to Japanese Language Proficiency Test, its indicates how influential it is to the curriculum design. (2) Japanese Language Proficiency Test not only provides the accurate Japanese language test criterion for Japanese language education in Taiwan, but also helps to promote learning motivation and increase teaching qualities. It is a highly reliable and acceptable language test. (3) However, the Japanese Language Proficiency Test fever turns the multiple Japanese language education to a single test-oriented track. Learners tend to ignore pleasure and cross-culture from learning a new language. In addition, speaking and writing abilities are not included in the test and the annual test limits its other functions are both worthy of further study. (4) Once what Japanese Language Proficiency Test can and can not do is clearly understood, educators in Japanese language departments should deliberate what their own department and each curriculum wish to accomplish. To combine assessment of ability and learning ability to gain certain emphasis on Japanese Language Proficiency Test while maintaining its department ideal goal. Abilities are excluded in Japanese Language Proficiency Test, such as; speaking, writing and translating shall not be overlooked either.
