商業活動是社會發展的重要一環，記錄商業活動的商業檔案自然也就承載了重要的社會記憶。在臺灣，商業檔案的管理及保存，遠不及政府機關檔案般受重視。本文首先探討商業檔案的特質與功能，並介紹國際間的商業檔案典藏單位、相關協會以及美、英、澳、丹麥等國的商業檔案保存概況，最後探討商業檔案的鑑定原則與方法，做為國內商業檔案管理及保存之借鏡。
