The essay takes it's point of departure from Ernst Cassirer's The Myth of the State in order to examine the birth of "global English" after WWII and the ideological hegemony it has acquired in a postcolonial context. Translation is understood, from this perspective, as a model of transnational government with a distinctly biopolitical component.
