The aim of this article is to examine Dewey's ideas of the laboratory school which he established during his time at the University of Chicago. There are four parts in this article .The first part briefly describes the eight-year history of the laboratory school. The second illustrate that the aim of the laboratory school is to accumulate educational knowledge and principles by connecting theory and practice. The third part discusses the ideas of the laboratory school in terms of psychological principles and ethical aim, then it analyzes the occupations in Dewey's educational philosophy. Finally, the author reflects on the implications of these ideas from the perspective of education in Taiwan.
