There are twomain reasons to reflect on the instructional strategies of Language, in terms of reading, for senior high school in the Mainland. First, students' capacity in oral expression is rather weak on average. Second, oral expression ability is related to the profic iency of communication and dialogue, as shown from reading class. Therefore, the 'Senior High School Instructional Guideline' was declared by the Ministry of Education in the Mainland. Furthermore, teaching to promote students' oral expression should focus not only on teaching group settings, but also on students' individual leaning. This article proposes the following four strategies to improve students' oral expressn ability, after surveying the document from the Government and literature reviewing: (a) the function of reading in real life contexts is helpful; (b) the method of transforming the text to life may be easier for students to enjoy to learn; (c) the practice of putting what is learned from the text into practice in life can improve the proficiency of oral expression; (d) ethic codes in communication must be obeyed to maintain good relationships. In short, the author suggests all teachers in senior high schools should cultivate students' moral literacy as it is as important as improving their ability in oral expression.
