在更年期,婦女骨質流失及骨質疏鬆症發生的機率會隨之增加。骨質疏鬆症是一種無聲無息的疾病,若無早期偵測及預防,骨折會在沒有任何警訊下發生。因此,所有更年期婦女都應該鼓勵其行為的改變來預防骨質疏鬆症的發生。在各種生活形態的改變中,運動是唯一能同時改善低骨質密度、增加肌力及肌耐力的方法。目前,一些研究結果顯示運動可以使停經後婦女的骨質密度增加或避免骨質的流失。故社區護理人員應瞭解運動對更年期婦女骨質健康所造成的影響,以期能藉由建構適當的運動模式及運動處方,來協助婦女養成運動習慣,以預防骨質疏鬆症及骨折的發生,並達到健康促進的目標。
Bone loss and the rate of osteoporosis have been on the rise among menopausal women. Osteoporosis is a silent disease. Fracture may occur without warning if the disease is not detected and prevented early. Thus, all menopausal women are encouraged to engage in behavior modifications to prevent occurrence of osteoporosis. Of the lifestyle modifications, exercise is the only method that can simultaneously improve low bone mineral density (BMD), and raise muscle strength and endurance. Current studies have demonstrated that exercise can increase BMD or prevent bone loss among postmenopausal women. Therefore, a community nurse should understand the effects of exercise on bone health among menopausal women and establish suitable exercise model and prescription to assist women. In addition, regular exercise habit should be encouraged to prevent the occurrence of osteoporosis and fracture as well as achieve health promotion.
