Construction of the Xinzhuang line covers the Taipei City section, New Taipei City section, and Xinzhuang Depot, of which part of the Taipei City section—from Zhongxiao Xinsheng to Daqiaotou totaling six stations—began commercial service on November 3, 2010. In addition, Dongmen Station is scheduled for completion in June 2012. Currently construction of the New Taipei City section including nine stations from Taipei Bridge to Huilong is underway and partial service up to Fu Jen University Station is scheduled to begin in March 2012. The entire line will not open until the completion of Xinzhuang Depot. When completed in the near future, the entire Xinzhuang line will not only provide convenient MRT service in Sanchong and Xinzhuang districts, but will also be coupled with National Highway No. 1 and East-West Expressway to become an optimal transportation network that connects Taipei’s eastern shopping and entertainment district, Xindian District, and Zhonghe and Yonghe districts into a Greater Taipei area. In addition, through integrated development, local features such traditional temples, famous scenic and historic will be promoted to help enhance economic prosperity, cultural spirit, and quality of life.
