The purpose of the study is to investigate the Chung Yuan Christian University female freshman's swimming ability and to understand the correlation between swimming ability and the willingness of selecting swimming class. Questionnaires title ”Chung Yuan Christian University swimming ability and the willingness of choosing swimming class” were used for this study. Each variable of the number and percentage distribution and Chi-square test between each variable were used for data analysis. Results showed: 1. 161 subjects (24.77%) can't swim, 243 (37.38%) can swim a little, and 246 (37.85%) can swim. 2. Each variable of Crosstabs and Chi-square test were conducted in the Swimming ability and willingness of picking swimming class showed significant differences on the part of ”swimming ability”, ”Taking a swimming lesson is troublesome”, ”afraid of water”, ”bad physique exposure”, ”water is cold”, ”bad pool hygiene”. Conclusion: 1. ”Can't swim” group in Chung Yuan Christian University female freshmen was higher than the other schools. 2. the willingness of taking swimming lesson was affected in the ”can't swim” and ”can swim a little” groups by the ”Taking a swimming lesson is troublesome”, ”afraid of water”, ”bad physique exposure”, ”water is cold”, and ”bad pool hygiene” categories.
