This paper firstly introduces the process of the collection and editions of Huang Kan's Ci. Secondly, it discusses the content and the characteristic of his works. Third, it summarizes the methods and achievements of Huang Kan's researching and teaching on Ci. On a basis of the formers, this paper investigates and evaluates Huang Kan's status and influences of the Ci circle in Republic of China in a comprehensive way. Huang Kan's Ci is being edited not only during his life but also after his death. His works reflected the events in the early Republic of China as well as recorded his social relationships. Since the Ci of Tang and Song Dynasty was his main study subject, Huang Kan made the research findings about Ci of Tang and Song Dynasty as a vital part in his teaching. In conclusion, Hang Kan developed and expanded the traditional type of Ci at the turn of old and new in the literary arena in Republic of China by his unique study and creative practice.
