spironolactone 為WADA 運動禁藥清單中S5 利尿劑及其他遮蔽劑之利尿劑成分，目前常用於治療痤瘡（即青春痘），極易造成運動員誤用的情形發生，運動員及運動相關人士應多瞭解此藥物以避免運動員誤用。spironolactone 因為具有「雄性賀爾蒙接受體阻斷劑」的作用，對於成人型痤瘡有良好治療效果，女性運動員容易發生誤用；現代利尿劑檢測技術日益精進，即使用量很少還是會被檢驗出陽性，所以在必要使用前治療用途豁免的賽前申請更顯得重要。
