In this article the individual-author's metaphors, which were selected from Bulgakov's novel "The Master and Margarita", are analyzed in translational and pragmatic aspects. The transfer of pragmatic meanings of metaphors into the Chinese translations are investigated. Special attention is given to revealing their communicative effect and the way to solve problems when translating the material directly from the recipients (the native Chinese speakers with bilingualism) through the survey. The principles of translation (literalism and liberty) are also discussed
