Based on the regional economic integration of Macao and the Pearl River delta area, this paper gives a comprehensive conclusion in regional space economic contacts by comparing the outreach economics and geo-economics of Macao and Pearl River Delta cities. From the correlation analysis, we often find strong economic ties and relatively weak economic complementarities among these cities. The matching result shows the Pearl River Delta does not have one city for which its outreach economic contacts are “very strong”, while its geopolitical economic relation is “strong complementary” with Macao. More cities’ relations are appearing intermediate state. Therefore, this paper argues that the Macao economy should have moderate diversity and dislocation development with Pearl River Delta cities, which is a realistic choice to enable greater market space and rational position role. In the regional cooperation, Macao government should be adhering to the policy of “associating with the distant and mixing together nearby” while the regional integration process must be promoted stepby- step as well.
