首屆世界華商大會自1991年在新加坡舉辦以來，至2013年已舉辦十二屆。中國內地 的全國工商聯、港澳地區的中華商會、國外的中華商會是其主要籌辦者和參加者，華商大會也因 而成為世界範圍內華商網絡建構的重要平臺。2001年在南京舉辦的第六屆世界華商大會，是中 國內地首次承辦，其意義別具不同。此次會議規模空前，港澳及東南亞、歐美眾多海外華商會與 會，期待在日益擴大的改革開放中尋找商機。大陸也有意藉此使海外華商增進瞭解，引資合作， 因此在會務安排及展示上力求完美，營造出“華商回家”的熱烈氣氛。在一定程度上來說，大陸 經濟體量不斷擴大，其在世界華商網絡中的地位也在不斷上升，第六屆華商大會於內外互通方面 收到了預期成效。

The twelfth World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC) has been held successfully since the first one in 1991. The major sponsors and participators include the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, Macau and overseas. WCEC is an important platform for them. Nanjing was the first city in Mainland China to host the sixth convention, which has unprecedented size and significant meaning. Mainland China tried to show the achievements of china’s reform and opening up, showing the perfect image to the world. The host city did its best to treat the guests and entrepreneurs. The sixth convention achieved good economy results and improved Mainland China’s status in the Ethnic Chinese business network of the world.
