人類が生活を営む中で食事の内容や持て成しを含む食文化は最も重要な文化の一つであり、その民族、その国、その時代の文化を手早く、効果的に理解できるルートとも言えよう。漱石の成長期が丁度日本では近代化が始まったばかりの時代であるのに対して、80年程の歳月を隔てた村上春樹の方では西洋文化がしっかりと国民の生活に根付いた時期で、彼が文学創作を始めた頃には経済高度成長期に至っていた。そのようなそれぞれの時代背景のもとで、共に国民作家と称される夏目漱石と村上春樹の作品には如何なる食文化が語られているかは、〈時代性〉や文化研究にとっても大変意味深いことであろう。小稿では、両作家のそれぞれの時代性、その時代の食文化へのアプローチを主旨として、漱石の『草枕』や『虞美人草』、村上春樹の『風の歌を聴け』や『ノルウエイの森』を主な対象に、作品に織り込まれている食事の中身や持て成しの特徵やその持て成しの働き、またはキャラクター間の関係など左考察していく。そこから、食文化が如何に変わったか、継承されているものがあろうか、それらは社会の様相などの問題の解明にもつながるであろうと考える。|Food culture including the diet content and hospitality is not only one of the most important culture for human-being in terms of making a living, but also an approach for effectively and rapidly comprehending the nationality, the nation and the culture of the times. The growth period of Soseki was the time of just entering modernization of Japan, while Haruki Murakami who was born about 80 years later after Soseki's birth started literary creation at the age of high economic growth period as the lives of the Japanese people was greatly penetrated by western culture. With the different background characteristics of times, the matter how the common known as nationalistic writers of Natsume Soseki and Haruki Murakami described about food culture in their creations may be extremely significant as far as "epochal characteristic" and cultural studies are concerned. The study aimed at clarifying the two different epochal characters of the two writers and the food cultures of their ages. Based on Soseki's The "Three-Cornered World" and "The Poppy" as well as Haruki Murakami's "Hear the Wing Sing" and "Norwegian Wood" as the main subjects, the author researched on the content of diet characteristic of hospitality, function of hospitality and relationship among characters etc. In addition, whether it was connected to the change of food culture, inheritance, social aspect or not were explored
