While this article attempts to interpret Professor Yang's doctoral dissertation from the University of Athens, however, the interpretation is only based on his two articles in Chinese and English. The author of this article acknowledges his inadequacy for this attempt, therefore this interpretation is only tentative. On one hand, with evidences from latter scholars in the field, is it confirmed that Yang's comparison of Confucian li to Aristotelian Orthos Logos is highly relevant. On the other hand, there seems to be less evidence from latter scholars to support whether Yang's comparison of Confucius's yi with Aristotle's practical wisdom is relevant. In addition, Ren is a very important concept in Confucian ethics and is based on human nature, whereas Aristotelian ethics has no corresponding concept as it is based more on cognitive classification. Emeritus Professor Yang was a pioneer on this topic, and his perspective could be an important reference for scholars in the field of comparative philosophy.
