The Constitutional Court Act of Taiwan entered into force in the
beginning of 2022. Up to the end of June 2023, the Constitutional Court
of Taiwan has presented 29 judgements. Compared to the monthly output
of the Court under the replaced Constitutional Interpretation Procedure
Act, there is a moderate increase under the new procedure system. This
moderate increase is a marvelous performance taking into account of its
immensely increasing input of pleadings filed. The rejected as well as
pending pleadings also increase immensely, anyway. That does not
correspond to a widened access to the people as planed within the goals
of the new procedure system. The judgements of the Court change into a
fully judicial style with a diversified tenor and a prolonged and more
deliberative writing of holdings. Last but not least, the Court tends to
choose cases with widespread social concern and decide in favor of
certain direction. With the substitution of members of the Court, further
inconveniences and adjustments of the new procedure system are
expected in the near future.
