　　COUNSELING PAENTS OF EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN 　　Parents play a very important role in their exceptional children's life. There are five major steps to work with these parents and to increase their Cotribution to the special education of their exceptional children. These steps are: (1) understanding parents, (2) establishing positive communication and relationship, (3) changing parents' attitudes, (4) providing information, and (5) encouraging involvement and participation. Special educators are encouraged to use these strategies to increase their experience and achievement in working with parents.
