Acquisitions budget control in libraries encompasses the entire process of collection development, acquisitions policy formulating, budget planning and allocations, ordering control, record keeping and accounts auditing. This article gives a general account of these budgetary practice, discusses the difficulties in accounting and problems of dollar shrinkage due to inflation. The author wishes to find a feasible way to reduce to the least degree harms brought by these problems.
