This study was made to determine the extent to which computers are used in the 20 New England libraries. It was found that there is considerable involvement in OCLC and computerized literature search service. While microcomputers are being used in these libraries, they are mainly stand-alone systems for very standard applications, such as word processing and electronic spreadsheet. Only 5 libraries--Harvard, MIT, BC, BU, and UMB--are implementing an automated library system.
