Briefly review the literature on the centralized and decentralized management of academic libraries. In a case study on the National Taiwan University Libraries (NTUL), a questionnaire investigating the users' opinions and attitudes is conducted and analyzed in detail. The researcher found out that users preferred the current convenience of many branch libraries to a central library; however, they are less satisfied with the services, and mostly do not admit librarian, faculty status. Regard to the effectiveness of management and services, research findings suggest that centralized and large multi-disciplinary branch libraries are ideal model for NTUL. Suggestions are made in this article.
