本生命意義測量表原為20條題目組成，譯本由2140名中學生填寫。結果顯示此量表有頗高的內在一致性信度及題目與總分相關。主軸因素分析結果顯示有五個主要的因素，分別取名為生活質素、生命意義、死亡、抉擇和退休。常模結果亦顯示中國學生的得分比以往同類形研究西方受試者結果為低，而男性受試者此女性受試者得分為高。上述發現的含義在本文有詳細的討論。

　　　　　The Chinese version of the Purpose in Life Questionnaire (PIL) was administered to 2140 secondary school students. The PIL was found to have high internal consistency as a scale and high item-total correlationsfor most of the items. Factor analysis with a five-factor solution showed that five factors were abstracted from the scale, namely. Quality of Life, Meaning of Existence, Death, Choice and Retirement. By randomly splitting the total sample into two sub-samples, these five factors couldbe reproduced and high coefficients of congruence were found for Factors1, 2, and 5. The normative data showed that the mean total score of the Chinese students is comparatively lower than that of the Western students reported in the literature and male students scored higher than femalestudents on some of the measures of the PIL.
