This article surveys the problems of research in librarianship. The article starts with types of research, and is followed by a brief discussion of research in librarianship. Next, the problems and criticisms of research in librarianship are addressed followed by an examination of paradigm crisis in the current positivist’s research approach. The article then introduces Michael H. Harris’ alternative paradigm, and concludes with the need for testing Harris’ theory to see its applicability.
