　　　　　圖書館統計是圖書館工作重要的一環。它指的是全面地、有系統地、及時地蒐集 、整理、分析研究圖書館業務的各種統計資料，據實的反映狀況。俾便圖書館計劃的編製。 就當前國內大學圖書館的業務統計予以探究，非但可以了解圖書館在大學中所扮演的角色與 經費分配所佔的「份量」，亦將有助於未來圖書館服務效能的改善。本文首先闡明圖書館標 準之意義，就國內外圖書館標準予以比較、分析，其次就圖書館統計之內涵與功能詳加敘述 ，並說明統計指標在圖書館的應用，最後探討現階段大學圖書館經營的現況及有待努力之處 。
　　　　　Library statistics play an important role in library business. It means thorough, systemtic, and immediate collection, arrangement, analysis and research of all kinds of statistical data of library business, and it reflects the real situation which helps the making of library planning. Analyzing the current statistics of academic library business nationwide not only enhances the understanding of how these libraries function in universities and their budget allocation, but helps improve the efficiency of library services in the future. The paper first explains the meaning of library standards, and makes comparison with and analysis of the standards of academic libraries overseas. Then it expounds the contents and functions of library statistics, as well as the application of statistical indices in libraries. Based on examples from a recent research by the Ministry of Education, the paper sums up by analyzing the current situation of academic library management and suggesting its improvements.
