In Tang Dynasty, the Movement of Ancient Writting was led by Han Yu and Liu Tsung Yuan. By constructing Ancient Writting, Han Yu proposed that writtings must make a thorough understanding of the Tao, Liu Tsung Yuan proposed that writtings must explain Tao. Materials that they used were also different' Han got from Three Dynasties, Two Han Dynasties, The Five Classics and The Six Arts; Liu got from Five 7olumes, Six References, also from Sayings of Various Schools and historical books. Ways of their expressing were also different' Hah meant to complain when being discriminated against, and to delete the verbose words; Liu then meant to base on four fears and six desires, the writting should be clear. By comparing writtings of these two persons, we may find that Han was good at theory, thoug, ht and preface; Liu was good at mountain, water, pavilion and pond. Therefore, when talking about writtings about mountain, water, pavilion and pond, Liu was better than Hah. But how good was liu's ,fittings? This is what was tried to be researched by this study. This study tries to research literary skills used in Liu's writtings, excepting Preface and Conclusion, it includes the describing of the state, the setting of the state; each of them is discussed by three chapters. Three chapters which describe the state include: with form (the new-creating words, phrases; the coherence of sentences); formless (figurs, colors and sound); synthesis (wide sight, solid, interlacing). Three chapters of the setting of the state include: the expressing of the complex, the realization of something and the attaining of something. By above analyses, we may realize Litterary Skills from Liu's writtings agbout mountain, water, pavilion and pond.
