In recent years high-rise buildings have been promptedin Taiwan. Conventional design method of lift systems faces difficulties in responding to the patterns of demand in highrise building, and how to manage lift systems design effectively and economically becomes important. In this study a revised conventional method for lift systems design is formulated. After odel verification, the model can be used to optimaize the number of lift, capacity and speed. The paper describes a model formulation and anempirical data set in the analysis. Futhermore, the sensitivity analysis has shown how total cost in the base scenario is affected by changes in a number of input factors.
