Hypermedia is simply defined as multimedia presentation plus non-linear and inter-linking knowledge structure that is called hyperlink. The advantages of hypermedia are its accurate and efficient searching of information based on the users' need. Hypermedia techniques have been widely used in education and training. The idea of geographic information system (GIS) was first raised in the 1960's, after over thirty years' development, GIS have been widely used by government agencies. This study tried to integrate hypermedia technique and GIS. A multimedia authoring software, Authorware, was used to integrate GIS and other related softwares to create hypermedia GIS. The hypermedia GIS can be used to develop spatial decision support system and computer-aided geographic courseware. Two prototype systems were developed in this study. The first system is a spatial decision support system for slope land management. The second system is a hypermedia querying system for Yu-Shan National Park. The system integrate geographic database, books, videos and can be used as a support material for teaching regional geographic courses. A hypermedia GIS will make the learning of regional geography becomes a pleasant experience.
