　　　　　本文自傳播觀點及理念出發，介紹系統生態（環境與組織）、系統行為（適應、互動、傳播）、以及系統控制（前饋、回饋）在傳播研究的應用。在討論系統的結構與特性時，尤其著重系統如何經由前饋與回饋來與環境互動以維繫系統生存。模控論（Cybernetics）在文中是提供傳播生態研究特定的哲學架構與求知線索。模控論把大系統分成次系統，來看次系統之間究竟以何種方式運用及輸送資訊；目的在確保系統的組成份子執行任務，發揮應有的功態。模控論的方法因此在確定資訊流通，以減少或預防系統中組成成員輸出行為的偏差，使系統能夠正常運作。本文指出，研究真實系統之傳播行為時，大系統論與模控論的理念是可依賴的分析研究模式。但是，真實世界的系統有複雜、模糊、不確定、時間延遲等特質，研究者應嘗試以回饋與前饋理論來思考與處理社會系統中傳播的問題。

　　　　　The purpose of this paper is to introduce cybernetic functions to communication research. Theories concerning system ecology, system behavior and methods of system control are the central themes examined. Cybernetic method including both feedback and feedforward is emphasized as the necessary process to ensure dynamic interaction in the ecology of communication systems. Such a method enhances proper flow of information and therefore assists communication systems to maintain homeostasis. It is indicated in this paper that cybernetic method and systems approach are helpful models when used as frameworks for research and analysis. Communicators can now relate information and system ecology through cybernetic properties of feedback and feedforward in order to solve complex social problems.
