Cataloging automation has been a basic operation in the library management. At presentwhen the all-out library automation has been under way in Taiwan Area and all over theworld the cataloging automation is especially an important requisite for the setup of acomplete bibliographical database. This paper aims to describe the meaning, functions, scope, preoperation, post-project andfuture development of the cataloging automation.
