二級傳播理論（Two-Step Flow of Communication）是大眾傳播學早期一個令人矚目
的理論模型。它雖然沒有最後站住腳，但它的確引起學術界的廣泛性注意，以致引發了更多
的深入研究，這對於發展大眾傳播學的學科理論建設是功不可沒的。
這一理論在大眾傳播學與資訊科學中的處境竟是截然相反的，亦即這兩門學科對二級傳
播理論採取了不同的態度。大眾傳播學與資訊科學的血緣關係是異常相近的兩個學科，它們
的學術內容有許多相互交叉、兼容、重疊、乃至化一。以致有兩種截然相悖的歧見：大眾傳
播學是現代資訊科學的一部分；資訊科學是大眾傳播學的一個分支。目前，對上述不同的意
見進行本質主義的爭論肯定是不得要領的。這兩門相近的社會學兄弟學科雖有勿咎辯的同一
乃至相似之處，但在今天也有各自的應用領域與範圍，司責指導與解釋不同的社會實踐與現
象，它們仍是彼此無法互相取代的獨立學科。本文對這一源起於大眾傳播學的理論在兩個學
科中不同的境遇與評價加以論述。

　　　　　This article investigates the different reading of the theory of two-step flow of
communication in the fields of mass communication and information science. The theory has
developed from mass communication field since 1940, but its application in mass communication
has been challenged unceasingly. However, the theory can be explained very well in the field of
information science. The author concludes that this may due to the differences between the fields of
mass communication and information science: the former deals with the ordinary daily news and
message, the latter emphasize the intellectual information for scientific communities.
